Pop into any coffeehouse and you’ll probably hear the word “Google” come up in conversation more than any general word. It’s a noun…it’s a verb. It’s a way of life. Indeed, Google is a whole lot more than just a search engine. Power Users work with every facet of this website to get the job done quickly, cost effectively, and with a dose of fun.
Google has grown into a multi-billion dollar enterprise… cataloging not just websites, but books, magazines, research papers, news old and new, financials, photos, videos, maps, people, and much more. History: http://www.google.com/intl/en/corporate/history.html.
When I load up my web browser, iGoogle appears first…making it a quick starting point to search, while getting all the news headlines, weather, optical illusions, and social connections. This is not meant as an advertisement for Google…and Yahoo, Bing, and Safari remain viable competitors. But there is no denying the impact that Google has had on human civilization in just the past ten years. Their Mission is clear: to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful.
