Tech Talk: What is technology and how do we use it
Need a boost of clarity or inspiration to get your project (or life) moving forward? Vision Boards are fun and easy graphical presentations to help organize and clarify your goals and objectives.
My 2010 Vision Board sits on my desk, just inches away from my computer. I created it in January so that I could graphically define what I wanted...and what it would look like. It's always there to remind me what I'm working for...and at the end of the year it'll be a great reminder of how far I've come.
With today's technology it's easier than ever to create a Vision Board. The simple steps to creating a vision board:
-
Define what your goals are. Personally, or professionally, it's vital that you are clear in defining what you want. Write them down in a word-processor or by hand.
-
Envision what the vision board will look like. Artsy? High tech? Colorful? Will it match the design of your home or office? How will it be framed?
-
Aquire the media and graphics. Sites like IStockPhoto.com, ShutterFly, Google or Yahoo can add some creative fuel to your vision, providing great graphics. But it can be just as fun to get out and take the photos with that cool digital camera.
-
Layout the photos. A graphics editing program like Adobe Photoshop is the most powerful for creating a Vision Board. But other more efficient tools can help bring the vision to life in much less time. I'm a big fan of PowerPoint. Not only is this a simple and fast way to layout your graphics, you could also use it to help organize and structure your concepts...as if you were presenting your vision/ideas to someone.

More recently, Google's Picasa has taken the industry by storm, offering an easy and powerful method to organize and layout photos. Simply select your visionary photos from the photo library, and click on "Collage" and your images are quickly and easily assembled into an elegant photo collage...in whatever page layout you want.
So get creative...get visionary..and watch your ideas transform into reality thanks in part to a dynamic Vision Board.
