Tech Talk: What is technology and how do we use it
Benefits of stopping work at sundown to keep your life in balance.
Nature has a wonderful rhythm and cycle. Seasons come and go and the sun rises and sets. But for the average working professional, the workday is likely probably more random and chaotic. By placing parethesis on our workday based on the natural cycles of the sun, we can take a confident control of our lives. The simple practice of "Shutdown at Sundown" can help keep your life in balance by looking to the sunset as a stopping point for our rushed routine. Sundown is nature's built-in signal for animals, plants, and all-things-living, to shut-down and prepare for the dark of night. Rest, relax and recharge. But mankind has conquered and engineered nature in so many ways...turning night into day, and providing round-the-clock sensory interaction. In many ways, working on a computer can be addictive, providing immediate feedback and stimulation. The urge to keep going, pushing the envelope to get more done and satisfy ourselves and colleagues, has warped and affected mankind's natural pace and flow. Obesity is on the rise, stress is at record levels, and more people say they're unhappy than ever.
Medical studies show people who get a full night's sleep function more efficiently and tend to be happier. By stopping early and resisting the tempation to "keep going" (especially on work that's fun!) we can maintain a healthy and fun balance to our lives, and accomplish more and be more fulfilled. When you "Shutdown at Sundown" you afford yourself more basic time to...
- Reconnect with friends and family
- Socialize and meet new friends
- Excercise and live healthier
- Read, relax and recharge
- Enjoy life and encourage new opportunities
Sunset is nature's built-in timeclock. We can look to it to encourage us to "stop". Put the work aside and get on track to living a more colorful and balanced life thoguh the simple practice of "Shutdown at Sundown."
